Why Does My AC Stop Working at the End of Summer in Seven Hills, NV? Dirty Condenser Coil & More

With summer coming to an end your air conditioning isn’t something you often think about. Most of the time you are excited to turn it off, open the windows and save some money. Your air conditioner has been running all summer. Some problems can be happening to it without you even realizing it. Air Supply Heating & Air Conditioning wants to help you learn some of the problems your air conditioner can be having at the end of summer.

Dirty Condenser Coil

With the outside unit, your condenser coils can get dirty because of the dirt and dust that can be in the air. When the coils are dirty, your air conditioner can’t efficiently release heat to the outside. This makes your house less able to cool down effectively. Dirty coils can cause more problems than just your air conditioner working extra hard to cool your house. It can also cause a malfunction in your air conditioning unit.

Clogged Air Filters

If summer has come and gone and you still haven’t changed your air filters. It is time to do so. It might seem like a small and tedious thing to do, but a much needed one. Changing your air filters can help keep your air clean. The air will be able to pass through the filters more easily and keep your air conditioner from working harder than it has to.

Failed AC Capacitors

When capacitors are exposed to too much heat they can lose their ability to hold their charge. If capacitors aren’t working, the motor can’t run and the AC won’t work. Usually, before the AC stops working you can hear a humming noise when it turns on. The air conditioner can also start to take a while for the AC to turn on. When this happens that means it will eventually stop working.

Burned Out AC Motors

Motors on your air conditioner have a lot of strain put on them. It has to work so hard all summer long to keep your house cool. Now the air conditioner job is to work all summer. That is what they are designed to do. Burnt out motors are more likely to happen when the unit is over 10 years old.
