Thousands of retail stores throughout the country have been anxiously awaiting the moment when their stores can be open again after mandatory government shutdowns due to the coronavirus. Both business owners and employees have felt the stress of not receiving an income while the stores were closed. Reopening means that they can try to get back on their feet financially.
As preparations for reopening are made it is important to make your retail space feel comfortable enough to return to your store and shop. Today Air Supply Heating & Air Conditioning has some things that you may to consider.

Importance of Verbal Customer Service when Wearing a Mask

Spending months in quarantine has put many Americans in an extremely emotionally vulnerable place. Depression and anxiety have increased throughout the country. Returning to normal should help many of those people stabilize their emotions. When they come into your retail store you can help them by making sure that your customer service is superb. Since your employees will all be wearing masks your customers will not be able to see if your employees are smiling. They will have to be verbally provide the customer service you expect more than ever before.

Social Distancing in Stores

Your customers will want to know that you have a plan for how you are going to practice social distancing in your store. If you have the ability to send out an email, text, or social media post to your customers about your plan before you reopen you should definitely do that. When your customers know that you have a solid plan they are more likely to feel comfortable enough to venture out of their homes and into your store. You will also want to have signs posted throughout your store that outline your plan so that customers can refer to it as needed during their visit.

Why are Stores So Hot? Keep a Comfortable Indoor Temperature

Another important aspect of making your retail space comfortable is keeping it comfortable physically for your customers. When customers enter your store the temperature of your store is a large part of whether or not they will be physically comfortable or not. This is where Air Supply Heating & Air Conditioning can help! We are asked regularly what temperature we recommend for retail stores. Let’s start by defining the term ambient temperature. The temperature that you keep your store at is called the ambient temperature. The ambient temperature inside your store can increase or decrease your sales. If your store is too hot or too cold customers will not stay inside your store for as long. Clearly retail stores want customers to stay in their stores for longer so that they spend more money. Consequently, having the right ambient temperature in your store is crucial for your business. Studies recommend that customers are the most comfortable when your store’s ambient temperature is between 68-73 degrees Fahrenheit. You will want to stay at the warmer end of this range during the summer when your customers do not have as much clothing on due to the higher outdoor temperatures. During the winter your customers will be dressed in their warmer winter clothes so you will want to be on the lower end of this range.
