What Happens when AC Refrigerant is Low?

Low refrigerant can cause your coils to drop in temperature and then ice and frost can accumulate on the coils. When this happens it will stop the coils from doing what they are supposed to do, exchanging the heat. It will trap the cold air, preventing cool air from getting to all of the rooms in your home. Your cold AC will now be blowing warm air in your home. Make sure you have the right amount of refrigerant to help your AC run properly.

What Causes an Evaporator Coil to Freeze?

As previously mentioned, if you have frozen evaporator coils it could cause your air not to blow cold air. So what can cause your evaporator coils to freeze? There could be many things that could cause this to happen. Low refrigerant can cause this problem, but dirty air filters, dirty coils, and a clogged drain can also be the problem. Keeping things clean is a great way to prevent the coils from freezing.

What are the Signs of a Dirty Condenser Coil?

Your condenser coils can get dirt build up over time. But how? The air from the outside can be brought into the outside cooling unit. After a while, it will start building up in the condenser coils making it dirty. Another way is if you have a dirty air filter, then dust and dirt will move around and end up in the coils. This causes dirt to build up more quickly than if you had clean filters.

How Do I Know if My AC Fan Motor is Bad?

A very simple reason why your fan could stop working would be that you tripped a breaker. Make sure everything is good on your end with the power. Then move on to other reasons why your fan could be having problems. A very common reason why the fan on your AC would stop working could be that one of the capacitors died. If one of these isn’t working then the fan won’t work. A few other things that could make the motor stop working could be the motor burned up, a bad belt, or once again blocked air filters.
