If you have appliances that produce heat, do not put them by your thermostat. If you have appliances that produce heat near your thermostat it will tell your thermostat that the air in your home is warmer than it is. This will cause your system to run longer and work harder than it needs to.

Keep Curtains and Blinds Closed to Keep Heat Out

During the day direct sunlight comes in through your windows and increases the temperature of your home. If you keep your curtains and blinds closed during the day will help keep some of the heat from making your home warmer that it has to be.

Avoid Using Your Dryer and Oven During Hottest Part of Day

Using your dryer and oven definitely will make the temperature of your home increase. If you can limit your dryer and oven from being run during the hottest parts of the day, it will keep your house cooler. Keeping your house as cool as possible will reduce the amount of time that your air conditioning unit will have to be running. Finding ways to cook outside whenever possible during the summer is always a great idea. Many people grill during those warm summer days.
