In Las Vegas, there are few months out of the year that require us to heat our homes. However, because we are so used to being warm, those cold months seem brutal if you don’t have a well working heating system. While forced air heating systems are the most commonly chosen heating systems in Las Vegas homes, there are other ways to heat your home. Air Supply Heating & Air Conditioning is here to talk about the different types of heating systems homeowners have to choose from. They all work in different ways and the one that you choose depends on your specific needs.
Central Forced Air Heating Systems
Many residential homes are heated using a forced air system. They are often thought to be the most efficient way to heat your home. This system will consist of a furnace that blows warm air that is distributed throughout the duct work in your home. The duct work is installed within the walls of your home so it isn’t something that will be visible for the most part. These heating systems can use several different fuels to generate heat including:
– Propane
– Electricity
– Natural Gas
– Fuel Oil
Electric Heating Systems for Homes
If you live in an area that doesn’t have access to fuels like oil or natural gas, you may turn to electric heating systems to keep your home warm. These systems consist of baseboard heaters that are installed in every room of the house. They are controlled by the thermostat. This isn’t the most efficient way to heat your house as the cost of electricity can be high. You may see your energy bills rise in the winter if this is your method of heating.
Geothermal Heating & Cooling
Looking for a way to heat your home without breaking the bank? Geothermal heating systems are an excellent way to do that. Using water from ground wells, the heat is generated from the ground and uses very little electricity to heat your home. This isn’t a conventional way to heat your home, so the cost to get this set up can be high. You may find that it is worth it in the end when you don’t have high utility bills.
Radiant Heat
Some homes have a boiler that helps them get the heat they need. If you have a boiler, you may choose to have radiant heat. There are small tube that are installed under the floor of your home or commercial building, and these tubes are then filled with hot water from the boiler to create heat for the space. The boiler is usually powered with natural gas, fuel oil, propane or electricity.
