Common Air Conditioner Problems in the Spring in North Las Vegas, NV; Tripped AC Breaker & More

As we start to see the weather get warmer and warmer most of us are starting to think about turning on our air conditioning systems for the summer. It isn’t uncommon to run into problems in the spring when you turn your air conditioner on for the first time. When it comes to spring AC problems, there are some issues that show up more often than others. Air Supply Heating & Air Conditioning is here to talk about some of the most common AC problems that we see oftentimes in the spring.

Spring Air Conditioning Problems

There are some issues that you are going to see in the springtime when you first turn on your air conditioner. Following are some of the most common ones:
– Dirty Air Filter: It might seem like an inconsequential thing, but if you have a filter in your air conditioning system that is dirty it can wreak havoc on your system. It is always a good practice to replace your air filter before you turn on your air conditioning system to ensure that it is getting the right amount of air flow during operation.
– Tripped AC Breaker: The breaker that gives your air conditioning system power to operate is there to make sure that your unit is protected against any power surges. If you are experiencing a breaker that is tripping constantly, it can be a sign that there is a larger issue that you’re dealing with. However, in the spring months it isn’t abnormal for that breaker to have gotten tripped somehow. If your air conditioning system will not turn on, this is the first place that you should check.
– AC Refrigerant Leaks: Many people think that the refrigerant in their AC unit is something that needs to be recharged on a regular basis; however, your air conditioning unit is a closed system which means that you should never have to put refrigerant in the system unless there is a leak present. A refrigerant leak is something that isn’t uncommon when your AC unit is older. Sometimes these leaks can be fixed and you can get many more years out of your system; other times, the leak is unfixable and you need to replace your system altogether.
– Clogged AC Drain Line: Another issue that is prevalent during the spring is a clogged condensate drain. Your AC system removes moisture out of the air during the cooling process, and this moisture needs away two drain away from the unit. A clogged condensate drain can create a lot of moisture around the unit that can cause damage.
