Right now the Las Vegas Valley is on a government mandated shutdown due to the coronavirus pandemic. Governor Sisolak has announced all non-essential businesses should shut down; large gatherings are prohibited; school is temporarily closed; and many more measures in an effort to keep Nevadans safe from the coronavirus as much as possible. Stay home for Nevada is the phrase that the government officials are using to encourage citizens to follow these mandates. Air Supply Heating & Air Conditioning has been affected by all of these measures just like you and your families have. We are an essential business so we can still help you with any of your heating or cooling needs during this time. With of these changes there are a lot of myths that are being spread as fact. Today Air Supply Heating & Air Conditioning wants to bust some of those myths for you today so that you can move forward with correct information.
Does Heat Kill Coronavirus?
One of the myths that is being talked about is that the temperature affects the ability for the coronavirus to be transmitted. It’s interesting because some people are saying that warm temperatures kill the virus while others say that it is transmitted more in areas with higher temperatures. Some people are adjusting their thermostat to make their homes extremely cold or hot (depending on the myth they are believing) to prevent the virus from affecting the members of their family. The evidence actually shows that the coronavirus can be transmitted in all areas and all temperatures. There is no need to overwork your heating and air conditioning unit to protect yourselves. You would hate to cause damage to your unit and have to call Air Supply Heating & Air Conditioning for an unnecessary repair.
Spraying Yourself with Alcohol or Chlorine to Disinfect is Dangerous & Lowers Air Quality!
The second myth that we are going to address is that spraying alcohol or chlorine all over your body will kill the coronavirus that has already entered your body. Please do not try this! It is a fantastic idea to disinfect surfaces in your home with alcohol and chlorine but do not put it all over your body. If you spray these substances you can inhale it and cause damage. Spraying these items will reduce the indoor air quality in your home. Here at Air Supply Heating & Air Conditioning we are passionate about indoor air quality. We offer services to help increase the indoor air quality in your home. Do not mess that up by believing and trying this myth.
Can Home Remedies Protect Against COVID-19?
People around the world are claiming that different home remedies can help prevent the coronavirus from spreading. Vitamin C, essential oils, silver colloid, sesame oil, and garlic are all being used with the hope of preventing the coronavirus. There is not any evidence that these measures will help with this virus. There simply has not been time to conduct studies on these remedies.
