Air Conditioning Troubleshooting Tips in Seven Hills, NV; Dirty Air Filter, Tripped AC Circuit Breaker & More

When you are facing air conditioning problems, you need them fixed fast. Some people will panic and call a trained technician when they could have actually handled the problem all on their own. Not all problems you may be facing with your air conditioning system requires professional help. Air Supply Heating & Air Conditioning is here to talk about some troubleshooting ideas to try before you give us a call. It is our goal to help your air conditioning system work as well as possible.

Is Your Air Filter Dirty?

Without proper air flow, your air conditioner can’t work properly. Your air filter has a direct effect on how well your air conditioning system is working. If your filter is dirty, there are several problems you could run into including: Ice on refrigerant lines, frozen evaporator coil, leaking water, high utility bills and a home that isn’t as cool as you would like.

Ensure Your Thermostat is On

Sometimes an A/C problem is a simple one to fix. If you aren’t getting the cooling results you are looking for, check the thermostat and make sure it is turned on and in the cooling position. You would be surprised at how often a homeowner thinks there is a problem with their system, only to find that they actually don’t have it turned on in the cooling position, but rather heat.

Check Your AC Circuit Breaker

There are times that your air conditioning system can cause breaker issues as well. If your A/C has tripped a breaker, you will be able to see it easily when you check your breaker box. Just look at the panel and any of the switches that are not completely to one side or the other, but are in the center, are tripped. Switch them in the on position and it should work again. If the breaker trips again once you try turning it back on, you should call on a professional to help you find a solution to the problem.

Possible Dirty Outside AC Unit

When you look at your outdoor unit, you shouldn’t be able to see any dirt on your condenser. This can cause your system to not work properly. If there is a layer of dirt on the condenser, use the hose to gently remove it. If the dirt won’t come off easily, you may want to call a professional for deeper cleanings. Also, you shouldn’t have any debris or landscaping plants within 2-3 feet of your unit to give it proper ventilation.
